The freezing UK

So I've gone from 19 degree heat in Barca to near freezing in the UK. Well I'm only here for a short spell, but for me getting a small sample of the snow and the freezing weather which the majority of the British people are dog-sick of, is well... pretty liberating. When I was in the sweltering heat of Barca and I saw some of the snow storms that were plastering white the beautiful county of my birth, well I felt a little bit of envy at you all. Snow is something until recently we never had much of in the UK and although I'm in no position to really comment on this years new load, as having only had one short-lived day of it, I must say I love the stuff. Its liberating, fun, makes for opportunities to sledge, throw snowballs, even ski if you are so brave and of course it makes for some pretty majestic photos. Well I'm just glad I could enjoy a day of it, no matter how short and sweet. I´ve got some good photos from my last day before the easter break when I wondered down to the beachfront. There´s this strange cheap assemble of basic gym equipment near a jetty, a strange sight - pull-up bar, metal railings, climbing frame, even a worn-out punch bag - replete with men seriously working out; they either come in pairs or groups or just amble up with headphones on. Instead of weights they use sturdy rocks which they lift over their heads, to drop it would be catastrophic, or have throwing competitions along the beach. The assemble has a sort of propped up platform with handles that the men somehow maneouvre themselves onto, doing press-ups in positions man was never meant to reach. It´s all rather grotesque and bizarre, I remember one guy just came along, some sort of thug boxer with bandages round his hands, walked up to the punchbag, hit it, and then looked around with madness in his eyes, on the look out for some sort of challenger. As none was forthcoming he decided to leave. Bizarre. Well, afterwards I got some beer and the next day was away. The flight was pretty turbulent and we arrived to a white platform with the pilot announcing its below freezing but he didn´t want to say.... The rest is all history anyhow....
